converting to a dynamic avatar

veadotube lets you convert avatars from other programs to a veadotube dynamic avatar, so that you can continue working on it in the dynamic avatar editor. you don’t need to convert them to use in the scene editor, as the scene editor already lets you use them as is, and not all avatar types supported by the scene editor supports conversion.

converted avatars will have the same inputs/outputs as the original ones when importing them back into a scene. other than that, conversion is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate, and you might get one difference or another. converting is meant to help you bring your avatar to veadotube for further editing. if you need accuracy, import the file as is in a scene.

veadotube mini avatar (.veado, .veadomini)

avatars created with veadotube mini or the mini avatar editor in veadotube can be converted to dynamic! it automatically creates a state group for opening the mouth, another for eye blinking, and another for the avatar states themselves.

it’ll also automatically create the node layout for controlling the state groups and also to replicate the original avatar’s effects and transitions, as well as the configured animated image behavior.

each avatar state will have its own layer grouping, with each mouth state as well. this is so to avoid conflicts between state groups.

the canvas size is set to try and accomodate all images. it might not look accurate to the original avatar if it happens to have images in multiple different resolutions.

veadotube dynamic avatar (.veado)

i mean, it’s already a dynamic avatar. if you try to convert a .veado file thinking it’s a mini avatar when it’s already a dynamic avatar, the program will simply open the file as a copy!

HÖNK avatar (.json accompanied by images folder)

avatars created with HÖNK can be converted to dynamic! it automatically creates state groups for visemes, emotes, and eye blinking.

it’ll also automatically create the node layout for controlling the state groups and also replicate the lipsync animation that makes the avatar randomly move up and down and rotate elements.

each avatar state will have its own layer grouping, with each mouth state as well. this is so to avoid conflicts between state groups.

eye animation might not be the same as in the original program, which uses different oval shapes for mapping the eyes.

PNGTuber Plus avatar (.save)

avatars created with PNGTuber Plus can be converted to dynamic! it automatically creates state groups for costumes, eye blinking, and speaking.

it’ll also automatically create the node layout for controlling the state groups and also replicate the jump-on-talk and wave animations.

layers are laid out according to the layer ordering in the original avatar, as well as the custom rendering sorting set. masks should also be automatically configured. since the original program’s rendering sorting system doesn’t directly translate to how a dynamic avatar does, depending on the complexity of the original avatar, it might not look accurate.

layers are attached to each other using the attach dynamic. squash & stretch dynamics are added to try and match the bouncing behavior of the original avatars, even if the pin positioning might look weird at first.

conversion is done assuming all the default settings of the original program running at 60 fps.
